B-24 Liberator "Bungay Buckaroo"

B-24J S/N 44-44175 "Bungay Buckaroo" is on display indoors at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona. Many B-24J were sent to the RAF, who used them both as bombers and as patrol aircraft, and more were sent to India after World War II.

A total of 18,493 four-engine twin-tail Consolidated B-24 Liberators were built to sustain the World War II effort, more than any other aircraft during the war. Over 1,000 of these ended up in the hands of the Royal Air Force who used them as both traditional bombers and as maritime patrol aircraft.

The "J" model was the most produced version of the B-24 with a total of 6,678 built.

The aircraft on display at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson flew coastal patrol missions with the Indian Air Force into the 1960s, and was donated to the museum by the Indian government.

To honor its Indian service, the right side of the aircraft carries Indian Air Force markings.
