The National Navy Aviation Museum (NNAM) is located at Naval Air Station Pensacola in the panhandle of Florida.
The mission of the Museum, an official Department of the Navy museum, is to “select, collect, preserve and display historic artifacts relating to the history of Naval Aviation.”
The National Naval Aviation Museum is part of the Navy’s museum system, the largest of 10 official Navy museums located throughout the United States.
At the core of the Museum’s collections are more than 700 aircraft, most of which are on loan and on display at other museums across the country. Approximately 150 aircraft are on display at the Pensacola museum.
The Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of Florida. The museum documents Naval Aviation’s rich history and features a fleet of beautifully restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard aviation.
These historic and one-of-a-kind aircraft are displayed both inside the Museum’s over 350,000 square feet of exhibit space and outside on its 37-acre grounds.
The Museum was awarded reaccreditation in 2019 from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded U.S. museums.
Highlights of the aircraft collection include:
In addition to historic aircraft and rare replicas, the museum houses a number of interactive exhibits, engines, maps, uniforms, photos, and more aviation artifacts.
Also offered are a series of education classes, summer camps, field trips, and tours, along with a cafe and gift shop.
A visit to the museum located at 1750 Radford Boulevard, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, is highly recommended. It features a massive collection of aircraft, a giant screen theater, Apollo 11 virtual reality exhibit, flight simulators, Blue Angels 4D Experience, and many more exhibits. Admission and parking is free.
Since the Museum is located at NAS Pensacola, security measures are in effect. Please contact the museum prior to your visit to learn of current visit requirements and access.
