B-29 Superfortress "Peachy"
Of the 3,970 B-29s were built during production, only a few have been preserved, restored, and are on static display. A total of about 22 complete B-29 airframes are currently on display in the United States.
One B-29 survivor is on display at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, located six miles east of Pueblo, Colorado on U.S. Highway 50 at the Pueblo Memorial Airport.
Their collection includes about 30 vintage aircraft, displayed outside and in two large indoor hangars. The facility also features a number of display of military uniforms of the era, arms and other relics of American Wars. It also includes a scale model of the Memorial Airport as it looked during wartime operations.
We highly recommend a visit for aviation enthusiasts, and anyone with an interest in vintage aircraft and Colorado aviation history. You'll be welcomed, and treated well, as we were during our recent visit!
The building is staffed by volunteers, many of whom are military veterans or have other aviation experience. They are friendly, knowledgeable and willingly provide mini-tours of the aircraft and their aviation experiences. Parking is free, and a small admission fee is charged. The time-consuming restoration of aircraft is also done by volunteers. Their work is seen in the incredible restorations of many of the aircraft on display, such as their B-29 "Peachy" shown below.
